LEARN MORE

This site was created as a service to educators. It grew from my own quest for balanced and dependable information on a spectrum of assessment topics and issues. Over the past few years, as a classroom teacher, school leader, graduate student, adjunct professor, Board of Education member, and author, I’ve come to appreciate that when teachers want to know what students know, understand and can do, they must first recognize the attributes of quality assessment. If more testing and measurement were the sole answer, then schools would already be their absolute best. Please join me on my search for responsive, relevant, and reliable practices that will lead to successful learners, teachers, and leaders in the 21st century and beyond. Your ideas and recommendations are welcome.

WHAT YOU WILL FIND HERE

Charley Mojkowski told me to “Give it away because the next thing you do will be better.” This site includes some of my favorite easily accessible and immediately useful resources on assessment.

RESOURCES includes current research, articles to read, and additional materials including news items, historical perspectives, reports, provocative viewpoints, and policy. There are also links to national, international, non-profit, government, organizations and websites.

TOOLBOX continues to expand and offers information on the fundamentals of assessment from classroom formative to deeper learning, and large-scale testing.

TECHNOLOGY AND 21ST CENTURY SKILLS includes a review of digital literacy, digital citizenship, and assessing with technology.

SERVICES are based on this belief:  “I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back. “~Maya Angelou

I hope you find the resources sufficiently relevant to return often, purchase books, and inquire about professional development and consulting that is custom designed to meet your requirements.
